Low-level laser therapy (or LLLT)

Hair loss in both men and women can have a devastating effect on confidence and feelings of wellbeing. At Your Hair Doc, we understand that if you start to experience hair loss, knowing that there are several options for non-surgical treatment can offer comfort and re-assurance.

Low-level laser therapy (or LLLT) can be an effective, non-invasive treatment for both men and women who are seeking help to prevent hair loss and to encourage new hair growth. The treatment comes in the form of a light cap device, which can be used in the clinic or conveniently in your own home. At our clinic we also have a higher powered in clinic machine which provides patients with an opportunity to have a more aggressive treatment programmer if required.

How does LLLT work?

When applied to the scalp, the laser light is absorbed by the hair follicles, which in turn stimulates cell metabolism and improving blood flow to the area. This process can slow or even reverse the miniaturising process in the weaker hair follicles and can result in faster and thicker hair growth in the healthier hair follicles. This can produce a significant delay of the hair loss process and can also mean that hair volume is increased.

Does it hurt?

This process offers no discomfort, negligible side-effects and no downtime. Laser light therapy can be used in conjunction with other non-surgical remedies in a holistic approach to minimise further hair loss and improve the appearance of existing healthy hair. It can also be used as a post-surgery healing device, to improve the results of FUE or FUT surgeries.
